Quite mysteriously the lake levels in the rift valley have risen over the years, and this due to tectonic movement more than rainfall. I was relieved to see the pelicans still using the lake, now swimming between a forest of dead trees. I waited patiently one early morning to capture this pelican paddling peacefully in a gap (Lake Nakuru, Kenya).
